The APR Journal

Background

It is already common knowledge the fact that, ever since the 70s, a constant attempt at forbidding and institutionally destroying Romanian psychology has been made. This state of affairs has obviously led to the creation of a gap between Romanian psychology and psychology abroad.

The present project comes as a result to the constant development of the psychological move in Romania, starting the year 1990: the re-establishment of the Psychology Institute of the Romanian Academy, of the specialized faculties in university centers of Bucharest , Cluj, Iasi , the establishment of new faculties in Timisoara , Oradea , Constanta , Pitesti , Brasov . The specialized private education has known a great flourishing as a result of the appearance and validation of some such faculties in Bucharest (3), Timisoara , Arad , Iasi , Constanta . We are witnessing a genuine explosion of the specialized education, which implies the existence of an great number of professors and an impressive number of graduates. However, one of the unlucky results of this state of affairs is the reunion of the Psychology Institute of the Romanian Academy with the Philosophy Institute and the episodic publication of the Romanian academy's Psychology Magazine. As compensation, at the level of university centers there have appeared Research Excellency Centers and specialized magazines that have gained a well-deserved recognition. The association life of the Romanian Psychologists has become indeed more active: the Romanian Psychologists' Association has known a genuine sudden change for the better since the year 2001, therefore at the present time it has a number of around 4000 members. Two National Psychology Conferences have taken place as organized by the APR. APR has also initiated legislative attempts that lead to the appearance of Law 218/2004 for exercising the profession of psychologist and the establishment of the College of The Psychologists in Romania . By the appearance of this institution, APR directs its efforts especially towards a scientific activity, collaboration with affiliated institutions and a better representation of the psychologists in Romania at international level.

In this context, the initiative of the present project belongs to the Association of the Psychologists in Romania , which assumes tasks so as to promote the scientific life of the psychologists in Romania .

Motivation

-The low promotion of the Romanian psychologists' scientific achievements, nationally as well as abroad

-The scarce communication, low number of contacts and meeting places, real as well as virtual, between Romanian and international psychologists.

-The absence of a referential psychological publication, edited by APR

-Facilities offered by the on-line publication and their promoting power inside and outside the country

Goal

Promoting Romanian psychology, scientific achievements implicitly, by means of publishing a Psychology Journal on the Internet, which would cover all the domains of psychology.

•  Special promotion of the English section on the international sites that list psychology magazines

•  Promotion through search engines and international directors, with the purpose of attracting the Romanian and foreign readers, as well

•  Promotion through posters, notes, booklets etc.

Evaluation

•  The valuation of the project will be done by analyzing the feedback received by APR, through any means of communication (e-mail, discussion groups etc.)

•  The valuation of the number of visitors, as well as of their countries, will be done through a program that monitors the site and the column meant for the magazine (ex. trafic.ro);

•  The valuation of the quality of materials at international level will be done through the number of quotes and references used by other authors.
